There’s a lot happening at the US Box Office this past Tuesday boosted by the Discount Day at the ticket windows, with various films cashing on the surge in numbers of moviegoers.

Mean Girls Remake vs. The Beekeeper
The musical remake of ‘Mean Girls‘ dropped to the number 2 position once again, after losing the top spot on Monday box office, grossing $1.1M on the 2nd Tuesday Discount Day. The musical had released on January 12 and had become the number 1 film till its second day before losing the position to the actioner that released on the same date.
The film had received mixed reception from the audience and despite a 70% approval on Rotten Tomatoes from 210 reviews, it has struggled at the box office since its bumper opening weekend.
The new take on the modern classic stars Angourie Rice, Renee Rapp, Auli’i Carvalho, Jaquel Spivey, Avantika, Beb Wood, and others directed by Samantha Janye and Arturo Perez Jr.
Mean while ‘The Beekeeper‘, an R-rated action film directed by David Ayer and starring Jason Statham in the lead with a supporting cast of Jeremy Irons, Emma Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi, and Josh Hutcherson, maintained its number 1 spot for two consecutive days, beating ‘Mean Girls’ on Monday as well, grossing $1.2M on the 2nd Tuesday Discount Day.
Interestingly, the actioner is also at 70% critics approval at Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing this with 149 reviews counted.
Mean Girls is eyeing a $75M-85M box office run in the US, while The Beekeeper is aiming for a $45M-55M run.
Anyone But You – Sony’s Romcom
Sony’s R-rated romcom Anyone But You, starring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, remained strong in the Top 3, grossing $710k on the 5th Tuesday, witnessing just roughly 18% drop from the previous Tuesday, hitting $65.4M gross in the US.
‘Wonka’ and ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’
Timothée Chalamet’s musical hit Wonka continued to perform well, grossing $590k on the 6th Tuesday Discount Day to see a total so far of $188.5M
Despite hitting digital release, Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom maintained its presence at the US Box Office grossing $355k on the 5th Tuesday Discount Day hitting a $114.8M gross in the domestic run.
