There is a number 1 movie at the US Box Office this Monday as the last week’s actioner ‘The Beekeeper’ has taken over the musical ‘Mean Girls’. Sony’s R-rated romcom keeps on churning great numbers despite new releases getting into top 3 movies at the US Box Office.

“Mean Girls” vs. “The Beekeeper”
The musical remake of ‘Mean Girls’, starring Reneé Rapp as Regina George and Angourie Rice as Cady Heron, experienced a significant drop in box office ticket sales, falling to number 2 to actioner ‘The Beekeeper’ that had released on the same date on 12th January setting off a box office clash.
The film grossed $700k on its second Monday, reaching a gross total of $50.7 million in the US.
Jason Statham’s R-rated action film took over the top spot at the US box office by grossing $800k on its second Monday. The film has a gross total of $32.1M in the US, eyeing an excellent half-century run in the domestic market despite the adulted age rating.
“Anyone But You” in the Top 3
Sony’s R-rated romcom, starring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, got to third position at the US box office, grossing $480k on its fifth Monday. With $64.7M in the US, it is on track to become the second-highest-grossing romcom post-Covid.
The film has already gone past the $100 million milestone at the global box office becoming a hit for all parties involved as it had a reported $25 million budget.
“Wonka” and “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” Box Office Performance
Timothée Chalamet’s musical hit grossed $425k on its sixth Monday, taking its total to $187.9M in the US. The movie had surpassed 2023’s releases like Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’, ‘John Wick 4’, and ‘Sound of Freedom’ to get a spot in top 10 highest grossing titles released last year.
The sequel to 2018’s blockbuster ‘Aquaman’, ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’, grossed $270k on its fifth Monday taking its cumulative total to $114.5M in the US.
Both ‘Wonka‘ and ‘Aquaman 2‘, Warner Bros. releases, are also available for digital purchase on streaming platforms.
