Turbat City is the second largest city of the Balochistan province in the terms of the business and population, but it astounds me that it lacks adequate car parking lots in the main bazzar.
Furthermore, many people from far flung and surounding nearby areas of District Kech, such as Tump, Balnigwar, Mand, Buleda, Hoshab, etc, travel to Turbat city on daily basis to buy their daily necessities such as ration, food and clothing, causing the city roads to become congested. Regrettably, the local administration has failed to manage the overall traffic system, as a result of which people have no other choice but to illegally park their vehicles in-front of shops on the roads, making it difficult for the other individuals and the main traffic to move in a smooth manner.
Furthermore, if you go to the bazar, you would notice that many cars or bikes are not following basic traffic rules and ethics that could result in unwanted, both minor and major, accidents. Most pertinently, there is no proper implementation of the traffic rules to prevent the rule breakers and, consequently, even teenage boys and school kids are riding and driving cars with no driving licenses and prior driving training, which is one of the main reason due to which accidents occur on a daily basis. Additionally, the police department has completely failed to make workable and feasible solutions in order to maintain the three Es of traffic, namely the Traffic Engineering, Traffic Education, and Traffic Enforcement.
The Turbat City’s most congested road is the main road which is also the transit road to a number of major city hospitals, including Kech Hospital, Baloch Hospital, and National Medical Hospital. The main road in Kech is already overcrowded, and there are numerous markets and shops, as well as people illegally parking their vehicles on the road, potentially causing people to face numerous difficulties and a variety of patients to suffer the diverse effects of traffic jams and elevated rush. Despite the fact that the general public and civil society have repeatedly expressed their dissatisfaction and have demanded with the concerned authorities to make the road a one-way road and the implement traffic rules through signals systems and by the traffic police activities to reduce hardships citizens endure and to minimize daily unfortunate road accidents.
Therefore, I humbly request that the police take some practical initiatives to minimize the illegal parking and that the local administration to develop parking areas for the people of the Turbat City.
