Poem Summary
The poet says that when he was wandering like a floating cloud over the valleys and hills, he happened to come across a field of daffodils that had grown big and beautiful next to the lake and under the trees.
The daffodils spread in a never-ending line, blooming with the cool breeze of the countryside. Their singing and dancing outshone the dance of lake waves.
He tells us that the spectacle distracted him from everything else. He was overjoyed to witness all that. He says such a scene is every poet’s dream indeed. He stood there for a long time, staring at this beautiful sight.
He says that the scenery left an unforgettable impression on his imagination. Now when he is sad or alone, the memory of daffodils dancing beside the lake makes him happy again. The happy memory fills his heart with joy and pleasure.
The poet’s experience of seeing cheerful daffodils in the countryside has become a lasting source of happiness for him.
