In Islam fasting is obligatory for every Muslim of the world in the month of Ramadan, apart from Ramadan it is practiced in Dhu al-hijjah, its ten to nine days before Eid-ul-Adha, but not much popular like Ramadan in Islam. Keeping fast is saying no to oneself and saying yes to God.
Apart from it, fasting has its own benefits, according to Islam fasting aims to make a person to realize the hunger, thirst and financial support of other human beings, people of the world are financially unequal, due to fasting a person may be kind and be helpful to those who are destitute, who lack the basic needs of livelihood. In Islam fasting plays a vital role for the love of human beings, it makes us to realize the pain of other. However Muhammad ( PBUH) was a real epitome in the world, he brought such strategies which are for benefits of humans and for the maintenance of peace in the world, so keeping fast is one of them.
Scientifically fasting is full of advantages, it is very necessary to keep fast at least some days in a year which aims for the beneficiary of one’s health, fasting prevents many deadly diseases like cancer, obesity, blood pressure, cholesterol level etc. Its main purpose is to make our all cells of the body work, some cells in the body don’t work generally since the requirements of body are fulfill by outside nutrients, while keeping fast, body gets very less amount of nutrients from outside, after eight hours one’s body starts to breakdown its own glucose which is the main source of energy, and body makes glucose itself, this process of manufacturing glucose is called Gluconeogenesis through which our all cells of body work and get stronger, like whenever we exercise our muscles get stronger.
