Who was Chakar-e-Azam ??
Chakar-e-Azam or Mir Chakar Khan Rind was a popular Baloch chieftain in the 16th century when Humayun The Mughal emperor was finding his way to conquer the subcontinent. Mir Chakar Khan Rind aided him in his struggle. Chakar e Azam was also an important figure in the epic story of Shey Mureed and Hani and was a poet. Chakar e Azam belonged to the kings of Balochistan and given the title “Alexander of Baloch” due to his efforts.
The great personality ‘Mir Chakar Khan Rind’ was born in 1456 in Makran and became the king of the Rind tribe at the age of 18. Hence, in ancient times they migrated from one place to another to improve their business. Mir Chakar Khan Rind set off with his caravan consisting of thousands of camels for the search of fertile lands for agriculture and establishing his works.
However, they reached Khuzdar and spent some time there. later to kalath and then shifted from Dadar to Sivi. Stayed with Mir Meraan Rind, the cousin of Mir Chakar Khan Rind who had already built his business. Just after his death, Mir Chakar Khan Rind handed the government, so in response conflict between Rind and Lashari arose. The reason was just that Guharam Lashari wanted to be the king of the Baloch nation. Thus, their bond of strong love and friendship going on from their ancestors changed into an immense enmity with a war that continued for thirty years.
It is also believed that the war started with a horse riding competition and Lasharis lost the competition and they looted and killed the calves of Gurhar Jatui ( a woman from the rind tribe). Chakar e Azam called Lasharis to return the calves back but they refused so it pushed them to war. But the major reason was land and power. The war had immense destruction.
They fought 25 battles in 10 battles Lasharis defeated Mir Chakar Khan Rind and the other 15 battles were won by the rinds.
The war destroyed many lives and damaged lots of fertile lands. In the end, Mir Chakar Khan Rind continued his journey from Sibi to Sindh in 1511 and then settled in Punjab. Baloch history is filled with such stories and personalities of great bravery and rulers.
