Multan’s Bahauddin Zakariya University is one of Pakistan’s largest universities. It compelled me to report that the food served in its canteens is unhealthy and that there is no cleanliness. As a big number of students reside in hostels and eat from canteens, the foods and substances used in the preparation of foods are of very low quality, whether it is chicken, veggies, ghee, or spices, all of which are unhealthy. Especially popular are the canteens of Omar Hall, Abubakar Hall, and the Main Cafeteria.
Furthermore, the canteens use Ghee, oils, and spices that have been prohibited by the Punjab Food Authority. They’ve been caught numerous times, yet they keep doing what they’re doing.
They prepare meals that are mostly very spicy or quite oily. students are forced to eat at the canteen because they have no other option. Many ailments, including stomach problems, have been linked to the stated foodstuff.
On the other hand, a high price is imposed for unhealthy and risky foods, which is absolutely unfair to students. The students are at a loss for what to do and continue to eat the unsafe food.
The authorities in charge, as well as the Punjab Food Authority, have been asked to take strict action against these canteens but yet no proper action has been taken.
