Before going into the depth of the book, let’s ponder over some questions. How will you feel when you will be aware of your remaining days? Will you enjoy your remaining days or will you spend those days thinking about death and becoming worried? Have you ever had a teacher that wasn’t only your teacher but also your best friend?
Here is one of the famous writers, Mitch Albom, who tells the story of his best teacher, a sociology professor Morrie Schwartz. He was not only a teacher but also a best friend.
This book has two main characters, one is Morrie and one is Mitch Albom who is a student of Morrie.
The teacher of Mitch Albom was suffering from an uncured disease (ALS). ALS is a deadly disease that disables a body to work.
This book contains the lessons which were taught to Mitch Albom by Morrie. This book teaches one of the true relationships between a teacher and a student.
A real teacher is not the one who just gives a student information or knowledge about a book or a subject rather a real teacher is the one who gives a student lessons about life and changes a student’s life like Morrie who was the teacher of social psychology, but he had provided life-changing lessons to the students.
Here are some of the lessons which Mitch Albom got from his best teacher Morrie.
Acceptance
The biggest thing is acceptance. Accept how you are, accept your weakness, and accept your disabilities because it is the reality and reality can not be changed and you need to live with them as Morrie did.
Morrie was affected by a deadly disease but he accepted that and enjoyed his life and tried to live life in its full joy.
“Accept what you can do or what you are unable to do.”
Forgiveness
Learn to forgive yourself and others.
Actually, we never forgive ourselves over petty mistakes, in return, we hurt ourselves for those acts. This brings distances in relationships. So forget all the things and forgive All.
“Don’t assume that it’s too late to get involved.”
Never see the time that how late it is. If your purpose is to get involved so get involved because time must not be a barrier to stop you to get involved.
Regret
Never regret what you have done because that is gone. Regretting can not correct that hence that puts one in desperation and overthinking.
So, always try to forget what has gone. Regretting that can not be redone, so instead of regretting we must learn lessons from that and we must not think of doing such things again.
Death
Death is a permanent thing and those who were given life have to die one day.
So, never fear death. Fearing death makes you worried and doesn’t let you enjoy life.
Money
Money is just paper, It is the dust of a Hand. It is not the only thing that can decide one’s luck. It is not only the thing that can make one happy.
Actually, the problem is that we are giving too much value to the money. Money may buy diamonds, gold, or anything that one wants but it can not buy respect and love.
It may give you a comfortable life but it can not give you real happiness.
So, these were some of the lessons that Mitch Albom got from his teacher by meeting him every Tuesday.
So one Tuesday, they decided to work on a project. And as they met each other every Tuesday; therefore, they gave the name to the book “Tuesdays with Morrie.”
