Seven habits of highly effective people by Stephen R. Covey is a life-changing book that inspires us to set principles in life. It expresses the real meaning of life. It was published in 1989. It has sold more than 25 million copies all over the world. The book discusses self-management, working together, attitude, and more which are the basic makers of effective life.
Be proactive
Being proactive means taking responsibility because highly proactive people recognize their responsibilities and they do not blame the circumstance, rather they discover new ways to blame themselves. They always take their responsibilities so that they should run their life, not to run by life. As a writer said, “until you take your responsibility for your life, someone else runs your life.” Reactive people are dependent on others, their lives are driven by others. They do not know their responsibilities. But proactive people are always serious about their responsibilities. The best habit that proactive people have is that they love to face challenges, hardships, or troubles with the courage to do their best to solve them. They are always keen to take on more responsibilities by which they get a bright future.
Begin with the end in mind
means setting a clear goal in life. Always have a mission in life and imagine it is an accomplishment, make plans according to your goal. Let yourself towards your goal. However, this habit will help you to find that you can anticipate obstacles and challenges and make yourself able to deal with them. See others how they make decisions in their life? Follow the principles of your goal and go asking yourself questions about what to do for achieving the goal or what are the possible ways which make you able to accomplish your goals. One thing else is hard work unless you get your goal.
Put first thing first
It is all about prioritization. Everyone has to do the important things first. Always be the manager of your time. Time management is the management of life. If your time is no longer managed, you are unable to achieve what you want. Manage the time, time will manage you. Putting the first thing first is also about exploring yourself, and knowing who you are. Your goals and your decisions. Always be far from those activities which are not important. Try your level best to manage your time and go for planning whenever you want to do new things.
Think win/win
It is one of the best habits human beings have which develops your ability to be successful in life. It is especially important to think positively every time. Always have a good attitude toward others which helps you to make a strong relationship with others. It Is the only wellspring that reveals how mature you are. Always thinking, winning makes you able to accomplish what you want.
First, seek to understand then to be understood
It is one of the best habits which equips us with a strong life. Most people want to be understood, not to understand. This is what makes people reactive. People do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply. It is the nature of human beings that they talk more and listen less that can be one of the reasons for world failure. Listening to others is one of the best habits that can help us to become effective people in life. Listening to others can help you to generate a good relationship. The people who you listen to trust you the most and can share any kind of emotions and feelings. So, it is a source to understand one another.
Synergy
It means having effective cooperation with others. If you work together, your roots and your basics will be strong enough and you will get a better consequence of that one. If you work together not only one person’s but also thousands of people’s thoughts will be together on a single thing, and you achieve one of the best results of what you want since unity is the only source that grows the power of a team. One of the greatest examples of teamwork is, “if you plant two plants together, the roots commingle and improve the quality of soil so that both plants will grow better.”
Sharpen the saw
It is the final habit that makes all the others possible. It encourages you to help every other habit grow and develop. To do this, you need to make sure that your mental, spiritual, physical, and social self all have the time and space they need to become regular habits that slowly become integrated into your character.

It makes you a perfect human being and prevents you from having habits that are obstacles in your life. Not only read this book but also apply these seven habits for generating a positive and effective life. By applying these seven habits you can be one of those people who are successful in their life.
