It is now official. ‘The Marvels’ will be available on Disney+ on February 7, 2024 at no extra cost for Disney+ subscribers. The release on Disney+ comes 90 days after the superhero flick’s worldwide theatrical debut.
The movie follows Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel), who, after reclaiming her identity, faces unintended consequences leading to a destabilized universe. Carol’s powers become entangled with Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) and Monica Rambeau, requiring them to team up to save the universe.
The film was high on hype and expectation considering the fact that Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel character was teaming up with the other fan favorite characters like like Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel and Captain Monica Rambeau.
The Marvels was released in US theaters on November 10, 2023. It earned $206 million globally with a budget of approximately $274.8 million becoming a disaster at the box office.
The film only grossed $84.5 million in US and Canada, becoming the only Marvel Cinematic Universe film to stay below the $100 million mark at the domestic box office, and $121.5 million in other international markets.
Directed by Nia DaCosta, co-written by Megan McDonnell and Elissa Karasik, the film star cast see Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Zawe Ashton, Gary Lewis, Park Seo-joon, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Critical reception was mixed for the film leading to its downfall at the box office despite a large section of fans liking the new all female-superheros leading the charge in a Marvel action drama.
The film’s digital debut came on January 16, 2024, and the premiere scheduled on Disney+ for February 7, 2024.
