The inflation in our country is skyrocketing to an all-time high, and if it goes unnoticed, the life of a common man will soon become a nightmare.
Overall, the rising prices of essential commodities have become a major problem. The prices of household items such as grains, pulses, cereals, cooking oil, spices, sugar, milk, vegetables, and other essential commodities have crossed all previous records, resulting in a massive hike in prices that has hit the underprivileged and lower-middle-class people the hardest (which make up more than 50% of our population).
Nowadays, it has become unbearable for people to afford even their basic needs. The salaried class also finds it difficult to manage their finances within their salaries, as food, fuel, and electricity are all recorded at their highest levels since independence.
The rural part of society and the people who earn daily wages are considered to be the most affected. The major reason for all this inflation is our depleting foreign exchange reserves, which has caused the devaluation of the rupee.
As a result, the government has curtailed the import bill, however, the import of all basic household items has also been halted.
The government should take all the necessary steps to control the inflation of these goods and prevent people from hoarding, black marketing, and profiteering essential items, which creates instability and an artificial rise in prices.
It is high time that the concerned authorities take immediate notice of this problem and save the people of our society.
