Poverty in Balochistan
The word Poverty means that in a condition in which a person or a community lacks important basic needs of living in the world. People will be below the line of poverty when the income of the employment is low due to which a common person cannot complete their basic needs like proper houses, clean water, healthy food and many more. They cannot manage them with low income.
Balochistan is the biggest province of Pakistan by an area which is below the line of poverty the most. The poverty in Balochistan is increasing day by day. Due to poverty, the people of Balochistan cannot manage to educate their children for a bright future. Because of poverty, they are being uneducated and most of them work as labor.
Over 800,000 were below the line of poverty in the province before Covid-19. While Covid-19 spread and the lockdown in February. The number of the poverty line in Balochistan has been increased which is 1.3 million. During the lockdown, 400,000 others have lost their jobs we could not fend for themselves. It could become difficult for them to feed their children, even twice a day.
Balochistan is rich from natural resources like, gas, oil, gold, copper and so on. Balochistan is a gift from God to Pakistan to benefit from it’s natural resources, but it is the poorest province of Pakistan with 52% of the population. The situation of Balochistan’s people is in poor condition. If it remains the same upcoming days, then another 1.7 million will be under the line of poverty in Balochistan.
The main issues of poverty of Balochistan are unemployment and corruption. By which today we are under the line of poverty. We cannot feed two times food to our children. We are not able to make our future bright. We are well-educated but still jobless why? We are able why aren’t we selected?. We cannot question anybody about poverty and why we are so poor.
By the poverty and jobless, people of Balochistan are compelling to start begging, robbing, suicide and so on. The poverty is causing an effect of education to the new generations. They are being deprived of basic education. According to a report, 1.3 children are out of school while 60% leave their primary till the middle and 48% quit before matriculation due to poverty. They cannot feed their children two times food and how can they educate their children? Rich Balochistan, but Baloch is poor.
Pakistan is benefiting from Balochistan, but what is it getting back? We are richer by natural resources, but still, we are poor. If the Government is benefiting from the Province, it should be best to provide jobs and other facilities to the public of Balochistan.
