Pakistan is currently the fifth most populated country on the globe, below China, India, the United States, and Indonesia.
Pakistan’s population is estimated to be 225.1 million people and is expanding rapidly. Furthermore, Pakistan’s growth rate is 3.6 percent, and every country must cut its annual growth rate to less than 2% in order to shrink its population. At this rate, Pakistan might overtake Indonesia and become the world’s fourth most populated country by 2030.
Without a surprise, illiteracy is the primary cause of population growth. As a result, approximately half of married couples in Pakistan do not utilize or have access to modern contraceptive methods.
Pakistan faces around 3.8 million unintended pregnancies each year. Unfortunately, early marriage, lack of birth spacing, son preference, incorrect norms, and a lack of knowledge about contraception have all contributed to where we are today.
The country’s contributions to resolving these concerns are minimal. In this context, coherent and holistic measures are needed.
Worryingly, this carelessness and incompetence have resulted in a slew of disasters, including malnutrition, deforestation, waste management, unemployment, overcrowding, poverty, and other serious issues.
It has been demonstrated that overpopulation jeopardizes a nation’s structure and has a detrimental impact on economic progress.
Despite this bleak image, the administration has failed to take population growth seriously. A country must control its population since a country’s progress is directly related to its population.
I humbly urge all political leaders, celebrities, intellectuals, athletes, and preachers to work with the government to raise awareness and educate the public about birth control and the severe consequences of rapid population growth. It must be handled as soon as possible, or else it will cause serious instability in the country.
