The multiverse may have seen plenty of surprises in ‘The Flash’, but Nicolas Cage’s unexpected cameo as Superman had left both the actor and fans puzzled.
In an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Cage expressed his dismay at the portrayal, revealing, “When I went to the picture, it was me fighting a giant spider. I did not do that. That was not what I did.”
The scene, a callback to Tim Burton’s unrealized Superman movie, features Cage’s version of the Man of Steel battling a colossal spider. Cage clarified, “I don’t think it was [created by] AI.”
He emphasized that the use of CGI was intended to de-age him and speculated that alterations might have been made post his shoot, distancing himself from AI involvement.
Cage shed light on what he initially shot for the scene, “What I was supposed to do was literally just be standing in an alternate dimension… witnessing the destruction of the universe.”
The controversy surrounding his cameo in ‘The Flash’ has raised questions among fans, with many assuming his entire appearance was CGI-generated, contrasting Cage’s assertion that he was physically present for filming.
The 59-year-old actor strongly doesn’t like AI’s role in making art. He wants people, not computers, to be the main part of creating things in movies and shows.
