Muhammad Ibn Battuta
Muhammad Ibn Battuta was the greatest traveller pre-modern times. He was born in 1304 in Tangier. In his family, most of the members except him were judges since he wished to be a traveller to travel all over the world to explore as per religions and to be familiar with them. At the age of 21, he began travelling at 1st to Makkah, Saudi Arabia for Hajj. Later on, he moved towards Damascus in Syria then to Egypt via Tunis and Tripoli. From Egypt, he visited Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Oman, Palestine and finally after crossing Afghanistan and the Hindu Kush mountain range, he arrived at India. Mohammad Ibn Battuta stayed in India for a few of year and was ordered by Muhammad bin Tughluq to leave India to go in China. Initially, he didn’t obey the order so on account of this, his companions were attacked and his ships were buried. After facing this disaster, he left for the Maldives where he worked as a judge and also married a girl from the ruling family. After this, he also managed and went to China in 1353.
He spent half of his life travelling around the world and wrote a book named “Rihla”( The Traveller). Ibn Battuta spent nearly 30 years travelling in 40 nations.
Finally, he fulfilled all those wishes which he wanted to do.
And dies and buried to his on born place ” Tangier”
