Poverty is not a new phenomenon in Pakistan, as it affects one-third of the population. In Pakistan, wealth distribution is presenting a situation in which one family seeks a new BMW while another seeks a one-time dinner.
The poverty ratio is higher in Balochistan, which is known as Pakistan’s richest province, where 52 percent of the total population lives below the poverty line, 33 percent of Sindh’s population lives below the poverty line, and 32 percent of KPK’s population lives below the poverty level. Punjab, which is considered an urban area, has a population of 19% that live below the poverty level.
The government should take significant action to reduce poverty in Pakistan, with a particular focus on Balochistan. To eliminate poverty in resource-rich Balochistan, the government must take effective measures.
As a response, the government should provide financing and employ labor-intensive production strategies to alleviate poverty.
