The book ”Letter to a child never born” is written by an Italian author and journalist “Oriana Fallaci”. She was born on 29 June 1929 in Florence Italy and died on 15 September 2006 in Florence Italy. This book was published in 1975 in the Italian language and in 1976 it was translated into English. She wrote many famous books like A man, Inshallah, interview with history, If the sun dies, and many other books. This book ” Letter to a child never born” is about a woman and her child.
It is written as a letter by a young professional woman to the fetus she carries in her uterus. It emphasizes the woman’s struggle to choose between her career she loves and the unexpected pregnancy.
The woman in this story feels like she is pregnant but without any medical check-up. Then she tells everyone about her pregnancy. Consequently, people start giving negative perceptions. But still, she becomes ready to give birth to the child in this world. She becomes extremely attached to that child and starts communicating with that child. She tells her child about the unfairness of the world and tells how many problems a woman faces to adjust in this society. After some time, she travels somewhere for her work when she comes back, she goes for her medical check-up then she comes to know that there is no existence of a baby.
Basically, in this book the author wants you to show the emotions of a mother and shows the love of a mother for her child for which she can sacrifice her career.
This book is very inspiring. It is dedicated by a woman for all fellow women. It gives a very deep meaning to being a woman.
