Kikkin: A beautiful and dilapidated village
Kikkin is known as a small village near Shapuk, which is 25 kilometers far from Turbat city towards the east, with some of one thousand inhabitants residing there. Recently, I have visited this village which holds some beautiful picnic points that attracts the people of far-flung areas to have a visit during weekends. There are beauteous mountains, gardens are adorned with greenery, natural water resources (chammag) flowing 24 hours, chorographic landscapes and it has many pleasant sceneries to admire.
Now, let me point out those basic necessities for the dweller of Kikkin which are not provided yet, like; clean drinkable water, proper education, hospital and many more.
The village consists of a single primary school that holds a very dilapidated education system for the students. The primary school is being run by a single teacher without having any desks, doors, windows, and proper buildings to be safe for the students. Surprisingly, the boundary of the school has no gate for security. The precious lives of children are at risk because the roof may fall at any time.
Recently, three classrooms were constructed but the engineers have rejected them and ordered them not to be underused because they may fall at any time.
Water is the most useful natural resource to make the lives comfortable, but the residents of Kikkin lack it. The village holds a natural water resource (chammag) that is very dirty. It is not drinkable for humans because the water is only for animals like; goats, cows, donkeys, and many more. Drinking such water results in many diseases like diarrhea, kidney stone, and much more that results in death. Unfortunately, for the curing of small diseases like fever, headache, and temperature there is no availability of hospitals in the village. The residents have to visit the city for almost 45 to 60 minutes traveling to Turbat for such a small case, what if there is an emergency?
Therefore, I urge the Government of Pakistan to have a glance towards Kikkin and resolve the tragedies that are being faced by the poor localities of the village. The Government should provide a proper education system, health care facilities, safe water to drink and other social and economic solutions to the circumstances.
