Khuda Aur Muhabbat (Book Review)
This is the review of the book ‘ Khuda Aur Muhabbat‘ written by ‘ Hashim Nadeem‘. How many faces, how many people, how many stages, and how many paths. Morning to evening and day to night. How many confusions and how many difficulties. Yes, but one continues to torment ‘ Love’. Yes, the same love before the world ever in the hearts of destiny, it hits as a thorn. ‘Love’ everyone always blames the destiny for the love that destiny is the enemy of that love but everyone said that destiny is made from the sky. So, the God who made destiny who is really also the enemy of love?
For centuries this question has been hitting the hearts of the people. The people of the earth are fighting against love. This war is going in the hearts of all human beings. But no one could give its answer. But one question is still remaining that the God who gave this heart to humans and also put love in this heart, so, how can this God be the enemy of love? He gave this love then how can he snatch it? Wherever this war may not, is being between’ God of the earth’ and ‘Love’.
Dears, love, hate, like, dislike, joy, sorrow, smile, weep, and etc. are natural emotions of mankind. What determines virtue and sin is what one says or does when one experiences these natural emotions; To love someone is a natural emotion and there is absolutely no sin if one loves another person. It is what one does and says after one has fallen in love with that person who would determine whether it would be counted as virtue and a good deed in the sight of Allah or a sin. If one falls in love and inform one’s guardians that they love so and so and requests them to sanctify their love in the bond of marriage so that they may love each other for the rest of their lives, would be counted as a virtue and a good deed in the sight of Allah the Almighty. If Allah the Almighty put love in our hearts and said to love each other’s then why people are blaming Islam that it does not allow us to love. But it is a wrong concept of people that they are doing likewise. Mostly, parents are there; they are destroying their children’s lives and doing injustice with them in regard to religion or rich and poor.
As I read the book ‘ Khuda Aur Muhabbat‘ the story revolves around religious ideology and human emotions. Muhabbat or love is revolving in strict Islamic families. Belonging to the society’s elite, a young commerce graduate ‘Hammad’ and ‘Imaan’ ( The daughter of Melvin Aleem Ud Din) who taught the Holy Quran to the neighbours and an imam in a nearby mosque. This situation brought a big change to Hammad’s life. He left his house and family for Imaan. At once he gained employment as a porter in a railway station and undertook hard luggage. He hoped the change he made him a religious person and eventual spirituality will make him suitable for Imaan to her father.
However, his hopes and his train information were in vain as Melvin was unable to accept the concept of a love match for his daughter and to forgive the insult Hammad’s family caused him when they realized Hammad loved Imaan. Imaan, meanwhile, was engaged to her cousin Abdullah. She lived under the shadow of her domineering father whom she dare not disobeying. Imaan told Hammad to return to his family but he refused with an increasing sense of haplessness, Imaan became over more stressed and eventually fell ill. This story ended with the death of Imaan. Hammad was also defeated due to his grief her voice was ringing in his ears from when she told him that she couldn’t be with him in this world but would be in the next world. Hammad falling ill and going back to his house at the request of Imaan. Then he returned to America and encountered with Sarah, a Jew and the daughter of Dean. She fell in love with Hammad. Hammad elevated criticism on himself as he rejected the Jewish concept of the Holocaust and was forced to leave the US. Before he left, Sarah accepted Islam and said Hammad to come back.
In this story, two lives were destroyed because of their parents. Imam’s father did not accept him because of religion that Hammad’s family was not living in the religious ways and Hammad’s parents did not accept Imaan because they were poor.
