After spending close to a decade in development and production, the Road House remake is finally being brought to the audience by Amazon Studios as ‘Road House (2024)’.
Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow), directs the action thriller. The film will be released exclusively on Prime Video on March 21, 2024, disappointing director Doug Liman, who had hoped for a theatrical release for the remake and has reportedly decided to not attend the premiere as an act of boycott.
‘Road House’ Trailer is Trending On YouTube
A trailer for the Road House remake was released last night on Prime Video’s official channel, providing fans with a glimpse of the long-awaited reimagining with a 2 minutes and 49 seconds trailer cut.
The trailer seems to be a big hit on YouTube, trending at number 8, with over 7.2 million views already just in a day.
The trailer also features real-life MMA fighter Conor McGregor in his acting debut in role that faces off Jack Gyllebhaal.
The film’s first trailer introduces Jake Gyllenhaal as a washed-up former UFC fighter, Dalton, who must protect the road house from being taken away.
It seems Director Doug Liman isn’t the only one showing disappointment over the film’s exclusive streaming release on Prime Video, as comments under the trailer show fans wanted a movie like Road House to be up on for the big screen.
One user writes, “This deserves a theatrical release. And whoever cut this trailer deserves a raise.”
Expressing the same opinion another one wrote under the trailer, “This should be in theatres, haven’t gone out with the boys to see a good old fashion action movie.”
Another moviegoer said, “About time we get a movie that embraces the pure, trashy thrill!”
The Road House remake follows the story of Elwood Dalton, portrayed by Jake Gyllenhaal, an ex-UFC middleweight fighter who becomes a bouncer at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys. The film promises a modern twist on the 1989 cult classic, with a cast that includes Conor McGregor in his first acting role.
The original movie, known for its martial arts and hand to hand combats, starred Patrick Swayze in the lead.
