Nobody can deny the significance of social media because it has become an inseparable part of our lives. However, while there are some positive effects, there are also many negative effects.
The use of social media is undeniably profitable. Its misuse, on the other hand, has its negative impacts as well.
Social media has become an addiction, affecting both children and the elderly. Prolonged use of a computer or mobile device screen can impair our vision.
Furthermore, using social media late at night can result in sleep deprivation. Sleep deprivation is harmful to one’s health. As a result, its indiscriminate use can result in a variety of illnesses. To be using social media, we must maintain the same posture in front of our computers and mobile device, which causes our muscles to tense.
The vast majority of users are complaining about shoulder and hand pain. Users also experience headaches, particularly migraines. Furthermore, excessive use hurts your mood. You can get mental disturbance, anxiety, depression, and so on.
Incredibly, social media addiction outnumbers smoking and alcohol addiction. Some people are constantly checking social media without taking a break, but they are unaware that social media addiction takes us away from our loved ones.
Aside from that, most people have developed a bad habit of attracting attention by posting unambiguous status updates. We show what we want to show on social media by posting or uploading status updates, not who we really are. We get noticed, but we remain anonymous.
We get noticed, but we are still more lonely and isolated than before.
I truly believe that social media harms our lives if used inappropriately.
The majority of people are distracted by social media. Because achieving the goal necessitates strength, hard work, dedication, and passion, which is a difficult task. While spending time on social media can provide temporary happiness. People lose sight of their goals and dreams, or they stop attempting to achieve them, and they become busy and lazy.
Aside from that, it is harmful to children. This is due to the widespread distribution of sexually explicit material, which has a negative impact on children’s learning and development.
Furthermore, it has the potential to devastate the student’s life. Social media has a negative impact on student’s educational lives. Students are unable to focus on their studies as a result of its use, which has a negative impact on their performance. Students’ academic activities are jeopardized, and they must contend with exam failure.
I strongly advise parents to prohibit their children from using social media. If their children use social media, their parents must monitor their activities.
