Illiteracy in Balochistan
Balochistan has the highest illiteracy rate in our country despite being the richest in resources among all provinces. In the last two years, the literacy rate stood at 41% in Balochistan whereas in Punjab it was 62%, Sindh 55%, and KPK 53% respectively. The most glaring reason laid under is the poor educational management system of the region. Thousands of teachers receive their salaries without serving the public and are never worried regarding the loss of jobs. They claim that once we find a government a job, we don’t have to pay our services. As per the report, more than 5000 ghost teachers are getting their wages without performing their duties. It is estimated that more than 7000 primary schools are without classrooms, teachers and basic infrastructures. Ultimately, 2.3 million girls and boys are running out of schools as a consequence of continuous negligence of the government. Only 1.1 million children can receive primary education and half of them discontinue their education after matriculation due to financial instability. On the other hand, 52% people are living their lives below the poverty line who cannot afford to send their offsprings in private schools. Therefore, it is requested of the higher and competent authorities of Pakistan to provide basic facilities in governmental schools so as to avoid further destruction of upcoming generations.
