‘The Boys in the Boat,’ released in theatres on 25th December 2023, directed by George Clooney and produced by Amazon MGM Studios, continues to perform well at the US box office.
As of the 4th Friday, the film grossed $786k, experiencing a modest drop of only roughly 19% from the previous Friday, bringing the total gross collection to $42.1M in the US. The positive word-of-mouth (WOM) from the audience, despite a mixed 57% rating on Tomatometer from the critics reviews, has helped the film to continue its decent domestic box office run.
On Thursday, the film has earned $366K from 2,007 locations, and on Wednesday, it had grossed $380K from the same number of locations, and doubling on Friday to $786k.
The storyline of “The Boys in the Boat” is set in 1930 and revolves around Joe Rantz (played by Callum Turner), who, while pursuing a job and education at the University of Washington, joins the rowing team alongside his friend Rogert Morris (Sam Strike).
Under the strict guidance of coach Al Ulbrickson (Joel Edgerton), they train to compete in the 1936 Summer Olympic Games in Berlin, representing the United States.
The film, distributed by Amazon MGM Studios, is expected to achieve a 4th 3-day weekend gross somewhere around $2.5M in the US.
