Child labour in Balochistan
As we read on daily bases that child labour has become a common issue throughout Balochistan. In Balochistan children are most often seen riding rickshaws, collecting garbage and working in garages. A recent report of ILO shows that in 2013 more than 500 children were found working in coal mines in Loralai district of Balochistan.
Most recently, SEHR reported that nearly 10,000 children are currently working as labour in Quetta. If the children are victimized by child labour, it would be immensely disastrous for our education system. Generally, 2.3 million children out of 3.6 million children are bereaved of going to school and they are forced to work in farms forcibly by their parents.
The provisional government is not taking any measures to root out the cancer of child labour. it is an undeniable fact that laws are not being obeyed to abolish child labour. The government should make efforts to reduce child labour overall Balochistan.
