Sadly, the University of Turbat has recently declined in terms of transparency and meritocracy due to questionable administrative decisions.
Currently, it enrolls over 2000 students enrolled in various programs, but its administration has been increasingly disturbing the students psychologically through outrageous fee hikes and exams.
The University lacks a proper transportation setup, with only 10 buses available for use – all of which are rented, and lack proper seating and air conditioning in summer. Recently, students were drastically impacted by an unjust fee hike, causing them to struggle to decide between persisting with their degree or dropping out in despair.
On top of this, the University has unofficially notified students via voice message that they must pay up to 5,000 rupees for transportation if they wish to use it. Unfortunately, instead of focusing on improving the quality and standards of education, the University is searching for new ways to make money.
Such initiatives are good if they are taken with the needs of the University in mind, however, the current decisions are contrary to the policies and laws of Pakistan, and deny students their right to fundamental education, as laid out by the constitution.
It is critical that the University reconsiders its decisions in order to avoid any further tensions and complications. The higher authorities are requested to treat this matter as a top priority and resolve the issues as soon as possible.
