Cervical Cancer Awareness
Diseases, as we all know, are a part of people’s lives. All of us are tormented with a wide range of ailments. Cervical cancer is one of them. It is a type of cancer that is caused by abnormal cell growth in the body. It primarily affects women.
According to data, every year in Pakistan 5,008 women are infected, with a fatality rate of 60%.
Cervical cancer, on the other hand, is a preventable type of cancer in developed countries because of the screening and vaccination programs.
Human papillomavirus is the most common cause of it.
It can be prevented in two ways: screening and the Papanicolaou (Pap) test, both of which are inaccessible in Pakistan. Aside from that, both tests that can be used to avoid it were guided by Americans and Europeans.
Cervical cancer is indeed caused by an infection that affects sexually active women of reproductive age. Most women are afraid of the uncomfortable screening technique, which may be performed by male doctors, and also many women are unable to participate due to the exorbitant fees.
As a response, the government of Pakistan must implement screening and vaccination programs to prevent cervical cancer.
