William Shakespeare is a well-known poet and dramatist in English literature, and he is regarded as the father of drama. The renowned personality was supposed to have been born on April 23, 1564, at Stratford on Avon. His father, John Shakespeare had a small business of merchants who hardly managed livelihood to feed his children. There are three brothers and two sisters who were not yet able to do any kind of occupation to support the family financially because his family was in needy circumstances.
When William Shakespeare reached the age of 13 because of their family’s compulsion he had to abandon his school as he used to attend Stratford Grammar School for his early education. When his father had been arrested for debt, it was a very abysmal misfortune for his family to survive during a very tough time. Thus, Shakespeare’s education remained incomplete.
The only goal of him was to uplift his family and he worked as an assistant in a butcher shop and also as a schoolmaster for a brief period to restore his family’s situation. However, Shakespeare turned a new leaf to have married Anne Hathaway when he was 19 years old and his wife was eight years senior him. They had three children, Susanna, Hammet, and Judith, but it claims that it was an unhappy marriage. A few years after Shakespeare went to London.
In London, he worked as an actor and his first poem, Venus and Adonis was published in 1593. He spent lots of time in London. When he returned to Stratford, he was a wealthy and respectful man.
His final years in Stratford were happy and prosperous. He lived gladly with his wife till his death on April 13, 1616. He was buried inside the chancel of Stratford church.
It is believed that these verses have been written by Shakespeare before his death, and inscribed on his grave-stone.
“Good friend for Jesus’ sake forbear, To dig the dust enclosed here. Blessed be the man that spares these stones, And cursed be he that moves my bones.”
