Despite the fact that Pakistan is one of the largest Islamic countries, Pakistani women are denied most fundamental rights. In Pakistan women face numerous challenges.
According to media reports, more than 51,214 cases of violence against women were reported between January 2011 and June 2017. Meanwhile, the conviction rate remains low, with only 2.5 percent of all reported cases resulting in a conviction.
According to statistics compiled by White Ribbon Pakistan, an NGO dedicated to women’s and DMS rights, 4,734 women faced sexual violence between 2004 and 2016, while more than 15,000 cases of honor crimes, 1,800 cases of domestic violence, and over 5,500 cases of female kidnapping were reported during the same time period.
The Honorable Chief Justice of Pakistan recently announced the establishment of 1,000 courts to deal with cases of violence against women.
So, it is my humble request to the government to take strong action against these monsters and put an end to this terrible situation.
