Stop child early and forced marriages!
Stop child early and forced marriages!
It is heartening to know that child early marriages have become a massive issue in Pakistan. Because, child early marriages affect the psychological well-being and intellectual, personal and social growth of the child. That can rob of happy childhood experiences, given an incomplete education, overburdened with responsibilities, and increased risk of depression.
Furthermore, a young girl’s body is not ready to bear the burden of pregnancy and childbirth. According to the Dawn reporter, teenage pregnancy is one of the important causes of infant mortality which is amongst the highest in Pakistan, for 44 out of 1,000 newborns died within the first 28 days of life compared to many neighboring countries with a lower GDP like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh that have a lower number of such deaths.
More importantly, I do blame the parents, because some uneducated parents force their children to do marriages. But they never think so that early marriage seriously harms the development and wellbeing of girls, through social isolation, domestic violence, and rape. So, girls are vulnerable to sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV and AIDS.
Finally, I request to all parents kindly instead of committing them to marriages, let’s send them to school so they can grow up to be healthy, successful, and independent individuals; this will lead them towards a successful life.
