Rituals of Balochi Wedding
It is a fact that every nation has their own tradition to perform marriages. It is part of happiness and joy in one’s life. When it comes to Balochi weddings; their ceremonies differ from weddings of other cultures. There are some rituals of Balochi Wedding which are mentioned below.
1. Bejjari:
It is the rule of Balochi Wedding where people try to help each other. Mostly poor people can not afford to do it in one’s marriage due to poverty. But they do go for it, to one’s kinships and relatives.
2. Engagement:
It is one of the common aspects of getting married. But make sure when we come for performing a marriage first of all boy’s parents send a messenger toward girl’s parents. It is up to them whether they agree upon it or not. However, when a girl’s parents agree then they demand their rights in the shape of money, jewellery and so on. After this, they will finalize the date to welcome the boy’s parents.
3. Invitation:
It is the third element of Balochi wedding. All of the women gather in a house and go for inviting relatives from house to house in the society. It continues for a week.
4. Julbandi:
When all the invited women of the society gather at the boy’s house. They take jewelry from the bride then leave for the bride’s house.
5. Duzzuki:
At the night of marriage (Sargwap or Lodi) do hennas of bride and groom’s hands. They sing traditional songs related to Balochi Wedding.
6. Henni-band:
After Duzzuki comes Henni-band, in which all the invited members gather. Once again, Sargwap or Lodi henna the hands and feet of the bride and groom.
7. Khorag:
The invited members of society, neighbours gather at an evening at the house of the groom and take dinner. After which they go for the celebration of Khorag. However, (Sargwap or Lodi) and some of the relatives of the groom dance and sing songs.
8. Nekah:
When a religious clerik takes the sign of groom, after which he will be sending three witnesses to the bride. At the same time the groom takes an oath that he will take care of the bride from any hardship or difficulty. From there some of the groom’s friends hold his elbow and take him to the bride’s house.
9. Mubaraki:
It is the last day of marriage where the groom’s family gather with a drummer and leave for the bride’s house is called mubaraki.
