Rising Road Accidents
Do human lives matter? Who is responsible for the deaths which are caused by the deadly accidents at the one-way highway of Quetta-Karachi. These are some questions that need to be answered. Accidents on the Quetta-Karachi highway have become a routine. The ratio of accidents on the highway is on a steep climb. Quetta-Karachi highway is one of the deadliest highways and it has witnessed a huge number of precious human losses.
Recently, a lady doctor, named Dr Shehr Bano Baloch, met a tragic accident on this unfortunate highway near Khuzdar and she was found dead on the spot. She was one of the most competent and talented students of Bolan Medical College (BMC). She had been posted at Basic Health Unit Waheer. The only reason for her death is the killer one-way highway. Her loss is indeed irreparable.
Many a time, issues related to frequently happening accidents on this highway are brought to the limelight but anything fruitful did not happen from the government side to mitigate the number of road accidents. Though Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal announced to expand and convert the Quetta-Karachi highway into a dual-carriageway road but nothing deliverable has occurred yet and no tangible change can be seen hitherto. Balochistan government has miserably failed to take action against overspeeding on this one-way highway in order to ensure safety over there.
Balochistan government just expresses sorrow over deceased ones that died from road accidents and pays condolences to them but dares not to kickstart the work on the conversion of one-way Quetta-Karachi highway into a double carriageway road so that the human losses caused by accidents can be minimized and previous lives can be saved.
