On September 15, 2015, the Pakistan Cricket Board officially announced the creation of the Pakistan Super League, and Pakistan national team ex-captains Waseem Akram and Rameez Raj inked a three-year deal to promote the Pakistan Super League as brand ambassadors.
The Pakistan Super League began with five teams: the Karachi Kings, the Quetta Gladiators, the Peshawar Zalmi, the Islamabad United, and the Lahore Qalandars.
Likewise, Islamabad defeated Quetta Gladiators by 6 wickets in the first edition of the PSL final. Islamabad United won their second title against Peshawar Zalmi in 2018, next edition final was played by Quetta Gladiators vs Peshawar Zalmi in 2019, as Karachi Kings faced Lahore qalandar in 2020 final, and Multan sultan vs Peshawar Zalmi final in 2021. In all PSL seasons, Islamabad has won two editions with Peshwar Zalmi, Karachi kings, Quetta Gladiators, and Multan Sultans winning one title each. Lahore Qalandar is yet to win the PSL title.
In the same fashion, the PSL 7 will begin on January 27, 2022.
