Pride and Prejudice:- Book Review
This book was written by Jane Austen. She was born on 16 December 1775. Pride and Prejudice was published in 1813 and is one of the most famous novels in the history of English Literature. Jane Austen started writing the manuscript of Pride and Prejudice when she was 21, under the title of First Impressions. It tells how Pride and Prejudice stand in the way of relationships. Fourteen years later, after her first publishing success, Sense and Sensibility, in 1811, Austen began to revise the manuscript into Pride and Prejudice, the version we see today.
Jane Austen was famous for her novels including Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and Sense and Sensibility. As with other female authors of the time, Austen published her novels anonymously. Out of her six novels, four were published during her lifetime. Her books were fairly well received and were loved for the way she integrated her social observations within a convincing love story. In 1816, she began to suffer from severe Illness. In 1817, she was moved to Winchester for medical treatment and died there on 18 July, aged forty-one.
This story is about Mr and Mrs Bennet who had five daughters. She wanted her daughters to get married as soon as possible. Jane and Elizabeth were the eldest daughters of Mr Bennet whom he loved the most. In their town, a new man moved into a house called Netherfield whose name was Mr Bingley. He was a rich and handsome man. Mrs Bennet immediately invited him to longbourn. Mrs Bennet wanted him to marry one of her daughters. Mr Bingley saw Jane and liked her. After some time the town attended a ball. Mrs Bennet was looking forward to Mr Bingley dancing with her daughter, Jane. When Mr Bingley arrived at the ball everyone was shocked because he wasn’t alone. He was with his friend, Mr Darcy. Who was a tall, handsome and proud man? He only danced with Miss Bingley. Mr Bingley danced twice with Jane and she was very happy about it. After that, Mr Bingley invited Mrs Bennet and her daughters to Netherfield. Mr Darcy started to notice Elizabeth. He thought she was a light and pleasing girl. After a few days, Mr Bennet’s cousin Mr Collins arrived at longbourn. Mr Bennet asked Mr Collins to marry one of his daughters. First Mr Collin admired Jane but then he saw Elizabeth and changed Jane to Elizabeth. He liked Elizabeth and asked her to marry him. Elizabeth apologized and refused the proposal. Then Mr Collins asked Charlotte who was Elizabeth’s friend to marry him and she agreed. Elizabeth was very happy for her friend. After that Mr Bingley left for London and stayed there for a long time. Elizabeth also went to London to visit her uncle and aunt. There she met Mr Darcy. He still loved her and asked her to marry him but she refused. When she knew that Lydia had run away with Mr Wicham and Mr Darcy forced them to marry. She was very happy and ashamed of what she did. Mr Bingley came back from London and asked Jane to marry him. Then Mr Darcy again asked Elizabeth if she had changed her decision. She was very pleased to hear that and agreed. Now three daughters of Mr and Mrs Bennet got married and lived happily ever again.
In this story, the author wants to show the emotions of love and delight. She shows the importance of love and care.
This is an amazing love story with great suspense and adventures. I suggest this book to those who like love stories and suspense.
