Poverty and homelessness
Dear editor,
Poverty and homelessness is a social issue as well as a human and civil rights issue. On a global scale, poverty is the root cause of homelessness. Stagnant wages, unemployment, and health care expenses are what contribute to poverty. An estimated 200 million people live in Pakistan of which 35% of them suffer pathetically at the hands of poverty. The term poverty can be defined as when a person does not obtain sufficient nutrition, can not bear the expenditures of health, and can not afford to enroll his kids in a school.
However, the disturbing issue of poverty can be solved if authorities try to create more and more jobs and drop the taxes on daily consuming products. Not only this but the government should provide free shelter homes, food, health care facilities, education, and drinking water to the poor sector. Such initiatives will adversely decline the rate of growing poverty in our country.
