Polio in Pakistan
Polio is a disease which is caused by poliovirus. It mostly affects the children in the country which is harmful for the lives of every child in the country. It spreads when the children are close to each other in gatherings. Among the children who get infected by poliovirus about 72 out of 100 will not have any visible symptoms. Most common symptoms are flu, sore throat, fever, tiredness, nausea, headache, stomach pain and so on. The infection of poliovirus can develop some other sensitive issues in children namely paresthesia(feeling of pins and needles in the legs), meningitis (which affects the brain of the children.)
However, poliovirus is one of the most dangerous viruses which mostly affects children. There were 70 WPV1 cases reported in 2020 and 147 cases were reported in 2019 in the country.
It is my suggestion to the leaders of the country to take steps for the eradication of the virus which is causative for the lives of the children in the country.
