Kevin Hart’s ‘Lift’ is No.1 Film on Netflix
Kevin Hart’s ‘Lift’ continues to dominate the streaming charts on Netflix since its premiere on 12th January. The action comedy helds its position as the top English film and overall Netflix show for the January 15 to 21st week.
The film was the most streamed Netflix original title in its second week, with 36.7 million complete views globally.
Made on a reported $100M budget, the F- Gary Gray-directed flick has reached 69.6M views in 10 days on the streaming service.
None of the other movies in the Top 10 Films English list hit the double digit in views as ‘The Legend of Tarzan’ saw 7.9M views at number 2, with ‘The Kitchen’ at number 3 with 5.6M views over the said weeks debuting last week.
‘Stillwater’, ‘The Equalizer 3’, ‘The Forever Purge’, ‘Queenpins’, ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’, ‘Wild’ and ‘Leo’ complete the Top 10 list in that order.
Prabhas-led ‘Salaar’ Disappointing Debut on Netflix
On the non-English movies front, ‘Society Of The Snow’, a Spanish-language film, remains at the top for the third consecutive week, managing 13.4M complete views globally, reaching a total of 64.4M Global Complete Views in just 17 days, setting a record for the best 3rd week ever in this category.
Meanwhile, the Indian theatrical blockbuster ‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire’ starring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shruti Haasan has debuted with only 1.6M complete views on its 2-day debut.
The film had released in theatres worldwide on December 22nd last year and had reportedly grossed $90 million in its global box office run becoming one of the biggest hit from the Telugu film industry that had also produced the 2022’s global hit ‘RRR’ which had went to win a Oscars as well.
Despite debuting on Netflix in just 28 days, the film has failed to grab the top spot on the service, which could be attributed to the fact that action drama wasn’t made available in Hindi-language, a wider followed language outside India, and only released on Netflix in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
The Hindi-language version of the film is expected to hit Netflix after 8 weeks of theatrical release, a norm seen with Bollywood movie’s OTT debut.
The Prashant Neel-directed first part debuted at number 3 in the Non-English Top 10 list, with disappointing initial response from the userbase.
The other movie to hit double digit in Non-English list was ‘Sixty Minutes’ hitting 10.6M views over the 15-21 Jan week period sitting at number 2 after ‘Lift’
Completing the Top 10 Films in Non-English list were ‘From The Ashes’, ‘maboroshi’, ‘CJ7’, ‘Kingdom: The Flame of Destiny’, ‘Dr. Cheon and the Lost Talisman’, ‘Caged Wings’ and ‘Love at Second Sight’.
Meanwhile, Zack Snyder’s ‘Rebel Moon Part One A Child Of Fire’ has officially dropped out of the Top 10 in its 5th week, likely to miss the 80M total views milestone after 91 days to get into Netflix biggest hit charts.
