Music and noise
Naturally, a man has five senses; hearing is one of them. This sense allows people to hear sounds through waves. Now, what kind of sound do we listen to?
We have two types of sounds; the first one is a musical sound while the second one is noisy. Musical sound is pleasant, continuous while noise is the harsh and unpleasant sound produced by an irregular succession of disturbance. If a musical sound is made too loud, it also becomes a noise. Whenever we listen to a loud sound, whether it is noisy or musical, it affects the eardrum of our ears. As a result, we cannot listen properly.
Mostly, noise comes from machines such as; vehicles, loud horns, guns, bombs, etc. On the other hand, musical sound comes from music that we always listen to on our cellphones, radios, television, and so on.
The loud sound damages the inner ear (cochlea) by destroying its cells and membranes as a result of listening to such sounds for a long time or an extremely loud sound at once. This results in hearing disability.
Along with affecting the ear, loud sounds can also cause disturbance in health as they can lead to poor concentration, lack of sleep, fatigue, stress, and more serious health issues such as cardiovascular disorders.
It leads to noise pollution that is increasing so rapidly in the developing world. The noise can disturb the natural ecosystems and the wildlife too.
Whenever we listen to anything. The sound of that object should not be too loud. We must not go near such objects which create noise. So that we can feel comfortable, our eardrums may not be affected and we can also feel relaxed.
