Lack of health facilities in the Mashkay
Dear editor,
Mashkay is a tehsil of district Awaran in Baluchistan province. Mashkay counts in, quite a back word rural areas, the result of 1998 census deduced that total population of the Mashkay tehsil was 34373, the result of the 2017 census, the total population is 33131. Due to the lack of health facilities in Mashkay, people have migrated to Karachi, Khuzadar, Hub, and Quetta city. People who are living in Mashkay facing many problems such as, suffering from various diseases due to lack of health facilities. There some hospitals, but there is a dearth of trained and competent doctors, nurses, well equipped and do not have adequate medical facilities in the hospitals of Mashkay.
Apart from patients, pregnant females who need regular medical supervision, they find it difficult to go city hospitals for their Medical checkup every month. Serious patients are transported to cities for treatment which is not affordable for a common person. In most emergency cases; particularly, women during childbirth, heart attack, and accidents cases patients die before reaching to city hospital because of the worse conditions of the roads and transportation.
In 2013, a disastrous earthquake hit Mashkay in which 500 hundred people died. Many of them got injured. Due to the lack of health care facilities, the wounded people faced several problems to be transported in the cities, many died on the way before reaching city hospitals.
Advanced health care facilities are considered the important indicator of the development of Mashkay tehsil. Mashkay can develop when the health authorities of the Balochistan government establish good health facilities.
Most of the people are so poor that they cannot afford to go to city hospitals and buy medicines. The health authorities of Baluchistan are requested to establish hospitals with all basic facilities in Mashkay tehsil. There is a great need for hospitals. There is also a need for good hospitals, well equipped, must be competent doctors, some compounders, nurses and peons in Mashkay hospitals than hundreds of lived may be saved who are living in Mashkay.
To conclude, health authorities are not active in Mashkay, 70 % are not active. Many people are facing problems who are living in Mashkay. There is a lack of professional and specialist doctors. I request the health care authorities to take immediate steps to make the health portfolio responsive to public needs.
