Kieran Culkin, who starred in the award-winning series ‘Succession’ sees his new movie, ‘A Real Pain’ debut with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score with 14 critics reviews.
The film, directed by Jesse Eisenberg who also stars in the film, follows the journey of two cousins touring Europe to dive deep into the Jewish history after their grandmother’s death. The film has a particular focus in the historic impact of the Holocaust and the second World War.
The cast also lists Will Sharpe, Jennifer Grey, and Kurt Egyiawan. Producers’ credits sees Dave McCary, Ali Herting, Jesse Eisengberg, Jennifer Semler, and Ewa Puszczynska.
Coming to the critics receptions from the movie’s premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, Variety’s Owen Gleiberman writes, “It’s a delight and a revelation – a deft, funny, heady, beautifully staged ramble of a road movie.”
New York Post’s Johnny Oleksinski describes the movie as a, “A big punchy film that’s intimate and nuanced at the same.”
TheWrap review states, “Kieran Culkin gives what is among his absolute best performances to date.”
The comedy drama ‘A Real Pain’ has reportedly been picked by Searchlight Pictures in a $10 million deal for its theatrical release sometime this year.
Reacting to the deal Eisenberg stated, “I couldn’t be more honored to work with Searchlight and to bring this story to a wider audience.”
