I am writing this letter to highlight the pressing issue of inequality that remains largely untouched and undebated in our country. In Pakistan, people are not treated equally, and belonging to an upper-class family results in preferential treatment in institutions, while facing society as a poor or middle-class individual is difficult. This inequality is a major hurdle in the development and progress of our country, affecting education, age, gender, irregular income distribution, and political equality. It leads to other issues such as poverty and corruption.
Although many public sector organizations and INGOs are working on poverty, food, water, and human rights, the roots of all these social issues are inequality.
As a concerned citizen of Pakistan, I urge my Government to take notice of this problem and solve it by increasing access to education, healthcare, and social protection, and by providing fair wages to labor according to their abilities. By addressing this major problem, I hope to see Pakistan progress and become a more developed country.
