The excitement in the monster movie’s crew’s reaction to a nomination at the Oscars 2024 awards for Best Visual Effects is getting loved and appreciated by fans on social media.
As the nominations were announced live for each category, historic nomination for the Godzilla franchise was witnessed live by the team that had gathered to watch the nominations for the 96th edition of prestigious Academy Awards.
The crew’s joy is evident as they witness their film, Godzilla Minus One, becoming the first Godzilla movie ever nominated for an Oscar.
For the record, its also the first ever Oscar nod for Japan’s cinema history at the Academy Awards’ 96 years long history in the Visual Effects category.
The crew’s cheers and sheer delight fills the room as the film sees its place in the prestigious Best Visual Effects category. The nomination is a first for a Godzilla film, adding to its significance, marking it a major nod in favor of King of the Monsters after 70 years in cinema.
The nomination list includes from the film, namely Takashi Yamakazi, Kiyoko Shibuya, Masaki Takahashi, and Tatsuji Nojima.
The 2023’s critically and audience loved film is up against films like The Creator, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Napoleon, and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
Despite its modest budget of $10 to $15 million and a team of only 35 artists, the film has managed to give a fight against big-budget Hollywood competitors.
Film witnessed global success at the box office, setting records as the highest-grossing Japanese Godzilla film and the highest-grossing live-action Japanese film in North America.
