Diabolic Challenges of Pakistan
Diabolic Challenges of Pakistan
Pakistan since its independence is facing multiple grim challenges. Unfortunately, impacts of these started becoming eye-catching in the 1990s, now their impacts are creating major issues for the country, considerably population growth which adds approximately 4.4 million to the population of country every year.
According to a recent estimation by UN, population of the country will reach around 403 million by 2050. Consequently, Pakistan will be the fifth most highly populated country in the world in 2050. According to the World Bank, the most almaring forthcoming challenge blended with the diabolic challenges for Pakistan is its water crisis. Pakistan storage capacity of freshwater is less than 30 days while India has a 200 days storage capacity, and in the US, a staggering 900 days. According to a recent report of the World Resources Institute’s ‘ Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas,’ Pakistan is ranked 14 in terms of countries facing maximum hardships due to lack of availability of water.
On the contrary, power generation, lack of productivity, energy crisis, foreign debts, and inflation are also associated with the arduous challenges of Pakistan. Pakistan has failed to overcome these challenges and therefore it is still among the most underdeveloped countries in the world.
Looking at the fact that we have the resources and manpower to overcome these challenges as a nation, I appeal to the governance and concerned authorities to take extraordinary steps to bridle and eradicate these grievous issues.
