The district Turbat Civil Hospital is the second largest civil hospital in the Balochistan province. Makran’s whole population seeks treatment there. However, it falls short of essential necessities. The condition of the hospital is so awful that patients have to suffer more from it than from their illness and discomforts. The toilets are out of order and unable to be used due to a lack of water and proper cleaning and hygiene. Furthermore, the x-ray machines are ancient and inoperable.
Multiple children from poor families are suffering from thalassemia and get no treatment at the affordable public hospital. On the other hand, it lacks doctors; on most days, over a thousand patients come for treatment, but there are only two or three available doctors. Employed doctors, most, in particular, set up their earning shops in private clinics and hospitals to earn more money.
The government and administration must provide these basic fundamental necessities to the civil hospital in earnest.
