‘Mean Girls’ Doing Great Despite Mixed Reception
Paramount musical remake of “Mean Girls” is performing well at the US box office.
The PG-13 rated movie directed by Samantha Jaynem Arturo Perez Jr., written by Tina Fey, starring Angourie Rice, Renee Rapp, Auli’i Carvalho, Jaquel Spivey, Avantika, Bebe Wood, Christopher Briney and others, grossed an additional $2.1 million on a Tuesday with a solid hold post MLK holiday.
The movie has reached a gross total of $35.7 million in the US so far.
Despite receiving mixed reception, “Mean Girls” could continue to perform well in next two weeks or so. Made with an estimated $36 million budget, the film needs to do over $70 million at the box office to break even.
Jason Statham’s ‘The Beekeeper’ Back at No. 2
‘The Beekeeper’, the original actioner directed by David Ayer and starring Jason Statham, is back at number 2 at the US Box Office, grossing $1.7 million on Tuesday.
Despite being R-rated, it showed a better hold post-holiday than “Mean Girls,” dropping only 26% from Monday’s MLK holiday and reaching a cumulative total of $20.4 million in 5 days run so far.
The action thriller also stars Emmy Raver-Lampman, Josh Hutcherson, Bobby Naderi, Jeremy Irons, David Witts and Michael Epp.
‘Anyone But You’ Continues Dream Box Office Run
Sony’s R-rated romcom “Anyone But You” is also holding strong at the US box office. The movie, starring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, grossed a strong $875k on its 4th Tuesday, showing a 31% drop from the previous Tuesday.
With $57.6 million collected in the US, the Will Gluck-directed romantic drama is aiming to surpass ‘Ticket To Paradise’ entire run to become the #2 highest-grossing romcom post-Covid.
