The musical remake of 2004’s classic “Mean Girls”, going by the same name in 2024, by Paramount is holding its ground at the US box office, grossing an additional $11.7 million in its second three-day weekend.
Despite a 59.1% drop from the opening weekend, the film has reached a cumulative total of $50 million in the US, with a projected run of $75-85 million in the domestic box office costing $36 million to make.
Seeing favorable return in the UK, the musical drama brought in a strong $4.1 million from the region, resulting in a total international box office of $16.2 million across 30 markets after two weekends’ rollout.
Combining the US and international earnings, the global gross for the Paramount remake stands at $66.2 million.
The film has seen some decline at the box office overall but the strong opening has filmed to show great numbers looking for $100+ million in the global run.
‘The Beekeeper’ 2nd Weekend Box Office
Meanwhile, “The Beekeeper,” an action thriller directed by David Ayer, maintained its second-place position as the R-rated film grossed $8.5 million on its second 3-day weekend, roughly a 49% drop from its previous opening weekend, bringing its cumulative US earnings to $31.1 million.
Internationally, the film made $14.2 million on its second weekend, roughly a 30% drop, to a total international cumulative of $44.2 million across 49 markets.
In the Chinese box office, “The Beekeeper” secured the 4th position despite a reduction in screening counts. The film grossed $840k on its second Sunday over 22k screenings, seeing a gross total at the box office in China reaching $9.6 million.
‘Anyone But You’ Still Going Strong
“Anyone but You,” an R-rated romantic comedy starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, secured the fourth spot with $5.4 million in its fifth weekend, accumulating a total of $64.2 million domestically and $100.2 million worldwide, as per Variety, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated romantic comedy since 2016’s “Bridget Jones’s Baby,” with a production budget of $25 million.
